Dar Tafza is the first Moroccan project from Studio KO, the Paris-based practice behind the Musée Yves Saint Laurent in Marrakech. It rises from a 6-hectare park of olive trees, juniper, and structured desert garden as a low, deliberate pisé silhouette, packed earth the same color as the ground it sits on. The snow-capped High Atlas Mountains fill the southern horizon. Designed as a humble family home that scales to twenty: monastic interlocking bedrooms along the corridor, a master suite on the upper floor, and an independent farmhouse pavilion across the property for additional family or friends who want their own front door.

Between Architecture and Nature

The architecture sits between Moroccan vernacular and gallery-grade minimalism. Pisé walls were rammed in dry juniper formwork on site, so the grain of the wood is still legible in the surface. A 25-meter infinity pool runs the length of the main terrace, tiled in dark stone, edge dissolving into the olive grove. Cathedral-ceiling living rooms scale up to roughly six meters at the apex, anchored by a wood-burning fireplace and low tan-leather seating that keeps the eye on the view rather than the furniture. The master bedroom is fully panelled in patinated, oxidized metal, soft warm light, no glare. Local craft runs throughout: tadelakt lime plaster on bathroom walls, hand-cut beldi tile in the corridors, rammed earth in every load-bearing wall.

Sleeping Arrangements

Twenty guests sleep across the main villa and the farmhouse pavilion. The main villa holds the master suite, the corridor doubles, and the pavilion ensuite rooms. The farmhouse adds three more doubles in its own building. Main villa: 4 double or twin bedrooms along the corridor sharing one large bathroom with two showers and two toilets. Main villa: 2 double bedrooms in the pavilion suite, each with its own private ensuite bathroom. Dining

All meals are freshly prepared on site by Mrs. Houriya and her kitchen team. Cooking moves between Moroccan tradition (tagines, slow-braised lamb, preserved-lemon chicken, hand-rolled couscous on Fridays) and lighter international plates, all built around organic produce sourced locally. Service is fluid: breakfast in the desert garden, lunch on the mountain-view terrace under the pergola, dinner in the long indoor dining room when the evening cools, canapés by the pool at sunset. Breakfast is included in the rate. All other dining is customized to each stay and arranged directly with the chef to suit the group.

Events and Receptions

The villa is regularly used for private weddings, birthdays, brand activations, and editorial photo shoots. Exclusive rental of the villa (up to 20 residents, breakfast included) is separate from the event rental fee, which scales with reception headcount and unlocks the outdoor terraces, pool deck, and desert garden for ceremony, dinner, and dance. Event tiers are tied to attendee count, not booking length, and require advance approval. Up to 60 guests (20 residents + 40 reception): €7,000. 61 to 80 guests (20 residents + 60 reception): €10,000. 81 to 150 guests (20 residents + 130 reception): €15,000
