The Papagayo Coast

Departures are from Playa del Coco marina, a short walk from the town. Tortuga Island is about an hour out by boat and is the standard full-day anchorage, with the reef stops along the way that make the snorkel gear worth having. Liberia airport is roughly forty minutes inland by road, which makes the boat reachable on an arrival or departure day without a second night's stay.

On Deck

The deck is the reason the boat is rated for up to twenty guests on the day, and it is laid out for a group that wants shade and sun on the same trip rather than choosing one. Three cabins and two heads below deck. On a day charter the cabins earn their place as somewhere to change, get out of the sun for an hour, or put a child down after lunch, which is a more honest description of how they get used than calling them staterooms.

In the Water

Paddleboards, snorkel gear and a floating mat are carried as standard and the crew set them up at anchor. The reef stops on the Tortuga run are the snorkelling, and the paddleboards get used in the calm water inside the anchorage. Nothing here needs to be hired separately or booked ahead.

Crew and Catering
