Villa Kemgia is a nine-bedroom compound on twenty-five thousand square meters off the Fes Road, twenty minutes from the Marrakech Medina. It is less a villa than a small village: a main house of seven bedrooms, a separate guest pavilion holding two more with its own pool, and paths between them lined with cactus and palm. Every one of the nine rooms has its own bathroom, and one of them is a built-in dormitory of four bunk singles under a mezzanine, which is how a group of twenty fits without anyone sleeping on a sofa. Inside there are carved cedar ceilings, vintage Berber rugs, a billiard room that doubles as a library, a cinema, and a dining room painted in bold reds and oranges. Villa Kemgia occupies twenty-five thousand square meters and behaves like a village. Terracotta walls, cactus-lined pathways and green-tiled pools connect a main house of seven bedrooms to a separate thatched guest pavilion holding two more. Inside, hand-carved cedar ceilings sit over vintage Berber rugs and contemporary Moroccan art, a billiard room doubles as a library, and the dining room is painted in bold reds and oranges under eclectic pendants. The built surface runs to about 1,350 square meters, and the land around it is large enough that ten minutes of walking will not take you past every building.

Twenty minutes, Fes Road

The compound sits along the Fes Road, twelve kilometers and twenty minutes from the Medina, on rural estate land between olive groves and the foothills. It is walled and gated, with several buildings connected by cactus-lined paths and garden courtyards, and the Atlas Mountains are visible from the terraces. Menara airport is twenty-two minutes, which keeps arrival simple for a group this size. The Agafay Desert is forty-five minutes south and the Atlas foothills thirty, so both of the classic day trips out of Marrakech are genuinely doable and not just theoretical.
