Villa Marya is approached over water. A koi pond walkway leads to the door, and from there the house opens into marble floors, warm timber and Indonesian furniture arranged so that almost every room reads through to the pool terrace. Six bedrooms fan out on one level, which is unusual at this size in Miami and makes the house workable for grandparents and toddlers in the same booking. The greenery is dense enough that the street disappears.

Miami Shores

Miami Shores is a small village municipality north of Downtown, laid out on wide residential streets with its own walkable centre. It is the quiet middle ground: Wynwood galleries, Downtown and the causeways to Miami Beach are each a short drive, but the street the house sits on carries nothing but residents. The primary suite faces the water side of the property.

Inside the house

The layout is deliberately flat. Living, dining and kitchen run together and slide open to the terrace, so the house works as one connected space rather than a stack of floors. Five of the six bedrooms have their own bathroom. The sixth has no bathroom attached and uses one of the shared baths, which matters when a group is assigning rooms on arrival.
