Five of the six bedrooms carry king beds and the sixth a queen, which makes it a couples-led house more than a bunk-room one, with four full bathrooms and a half bath. Villa Summercrest was finished recently, and the benefit of that is structural rather than decorative: nothing in the house is near the end of its life. Six bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and 4,207 square feet of interior, arranged so the kitchen, dining and living run together on one plane and the sleeping rooms sit away from it. A full chef kitchen does the cooking for twelve. Outside there is a heated pool for the months when Miami water turns cold, and above that a roof deck that opens the whole sky up.

Miami Shores is a residential village, tree-lined and low-rise, with a village center of cafes and small shops five minutes away by car. It is not the Beach and it is not Brickell, and that is the reason to choose it: a quiet street to come home to with the rest of Miami inside a half-hour radius. The pool is heated, which extends the swimming season straight through the winter months rather than ending it in November. Around it there is lounging space and outdoor furniture rather than a tight deck, and the landscaping across the plot is mature. The roof deck sits above all of it with panoramic views, and in practice it becomes the evening room: the pool takes the afternoon, the roof takes sunset onwards. A week from here

The house works as a base rather than a destination. Mornings in the village, afternoons in the pool, then a short drive out for whatever the trip is about: galleries in Wynwood, showrooms in the Design District, shopping at Aventura, or the sand at Miami Beach twenty-two minutes away. Because the kitchen is set up properly and there is a washer and dryer, groups here tend to cook two or three nights instead of booking a table every evening. Before you book

Three nights is the minimum, so this is not a stopover house. Pets are not permitted and the owner does not flex on it. Twelve guests is a hard cap rather than a guideline, and events or parties beyond the booked count need written approval in advance, which on a residential street is not a formality. Check-in is from three in the afternoon and check-out at eleven, both with some flexibility. The lead guest must be twenty-five or over and photo identification is required.
