Villa Zen is hidden in plain sight. A high fence and a stand of mature oaks screen it from one of North Grove's better streets, and once inside the house turns its back on the road entirely: full-height glass runs along the rear, opening the living space onto a private garden and a large pool. The remodel is recent, the interiors are minimal, and the whole arrangement is built around keeping the energy low.

Coconut Grove is the oldest continuously inhabited neighbourhood in Miami and the North Grove streets are its quietest part, heavy with tree cover and within reach of the Bayshore Drive waterfront on foot or a short cycle.
